BOOKS, I am reading now, "Losing Nelson" by Barry Unsworth, "Ten Days in the Hills" (I am for once reading fiction) by Jane Smiley. I"inside the Bottle" An Expose of the Bottled Water Industry, by Tony Clarke.BOOKS, recently read, "The Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan, it has got me thinking about running away to join a farm. What I've read recently, "The Seven Pillars of Wisdom" by T.E. Lawrence, evocative and beautifully written descriptions of the land and geology, "Consuelo and Alva Vanderbilt" by Amanda Mackenzie, insights into the architecture of society during the Gilded Age and the struggle to gain the women's vote. "Deluxe, How Luxury Lost It's Luster" by Dana Thomas, an entertaining and informative read about the globalization of luxury goods and a juicy book proposal about Hollywood by Susannah Corwin.
LECTURES, Attended an inspiring talk by Joel Salatin owner of Polyface Farms about his Permaculture style farming methods.
RECENTLY, I just learned how to Boogie Board, totally fabulously fun.
SHOWS, I've seen recently; the John Lautner show at the Hamner Museum. At North Hill in China Town, "Salvage", beautiful large prints by Cindy Bennett.
